Alex provides professional advice to farming operations in all aspects of poultry and fur production. He specializes in poultry and animal health, food safety, bio-security, technology transfer, extension education, nutrition management, environmental control/ventilation and innovation application.
In 2005 he was named as a “Who’s Who” in the Canadian poultry industry by Canadian Poultrymen magazine. He works with clients on bio-security protocols, farm health programs and monitoring, and developing and implementing on-farm food safety and HACCP plans. Other projects have included enhancing broiler management, body weights and flock uniformity and pullet, layer and breeder flock management and record keeping.
He is coordinator for the Atlantic Poultry Conference, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Poultry Research Institute. Alex has made numerous presentations on bio-security, food safety, broiler production, layer and pullet production, mink AD prevention, poultry and mink health, sanitation and waste handling issues. He presents seminars and conducts training sessions on a variety of production issues related to poultry and mink, as well as provides on farm evaluation of vaccination procedures, beak trimming procedures and flock management.
He has also authored fact sheets and articles on topics ranging from water quality to poultry lighting, pullet growth and broiler uniformity, and has contributed to poultry and mink manuals.
