Applied research is a key part of AgraPoint's work under our extension contract with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and our links to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
Here is a sample of some of our research projects:
- Municipal solid food waste (MSFW) compost application and fertigation program modification in strawberry plasticulture (2011)
Partners are Dr. Mehdi Sharifi of the NSAC and Nova Agri Inc.
This project was recently approved for funding through the technology developmental program administered by the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture. It will investigate the best fertilizer regime for day-neutral strawberries cultivated in a plasticulture system using a combination of MSFW compost and fertigation.
- Geothermal Heating for a Chicken Barn Project at Roundhill Poultry Farm (2011)
Partners are Jerry MacDonnell and Dr. Ken Carscadden of the NSAC and Julie Bailey with NSDA.
- Evaluation of Fungicide Timings & Nozzle Type on Pioneer 25R47 Winter Wheat at Curryknoll Farms (2009)
