We work with governments, associations and companies to help their clients and members develop the understanding, capabilities, attitudes and skills essential to solving farm problems or creating new opportunities on their own. We deliver our services through a variety of means: Workshops and Conferences Our specialists will develop workshops on hot topics or issues which require training or awareness. For example, integrated pest management in strawberries, managing Aleutian disease in mink, information for new entrants to farming, lameness in dairy cattle. We place a special emphasis on adult education principles to ensure the information is being communicated for optimum learning and transfer. AgraPoint’s Agriculture Information Centre Our centre’s specialists work closely with our specialist team and other resources to ensure we provide the most up to date information – fast – to producers’ requests by toll-free phone, mail, fax or e-mail. Learn more here Specialists In cases where more specialized information is required, our specialists can provide this information by phone and email. Our specialists also maintain onfarm contact and make farm calls to stay current with issues on the farm and in the rural community. Fact Sheets and Publications We develop fact sheets, articles, newsletters, reports and update crop and pest guides. Special bulletins are issued by mail, email and posted on the web. Communication We develop and oversee communication plans to ensure the appropriate audiences for the information are being reached so they have an opportunity to learn. Our plans employ web, e-mail, fax, phone, in-person and mail strategies. Applied Research We facilitate and cooperate in applied research to address identified problems or opportunities, and work with industry to apply the information on technologies or techniques learned from the research back on the farm. Development Initiatives We work closely with various commodity organizations to support or facilitate initiatives to help develop their industry. These can range from educational or training programmes, to new crop development and improved production management systems.
