The line offers a recorded message with current information on wild blueberry growth stages, disease development, weather and infection periods. The phone number is (902) 662-4242.
It allows producers to accurately predict disease risk and take the necessary precautions at an early stage.
During the Monilinia blight season in late April and May, the line will be updated on Tuesdays and Fridays. During the Botrytis blight season in late May to late June, updates will be issued once per week. During critical periods, there will be two updates a week.
Growers in the following areas will take part in collecting data: Caledonia, Rawdon-Gore, Musquodoboit, Cumberland County, Colchester-Pictou, Queen’s County and the East River St. Mary’s area.
